Release 1.18.0 - Io
Why Io? At Valoon we name our releases after bodies in our solar system. Io is the innermost of the 4 major moons of the planet Jupiter. The moon is particularly notable as the most volcanically active body in our solar system and as the centerpiece of the first measurement of the speed of light in 1676.
User Highlightsβ
π¬ Simplified WhatsApp Menuβ
Weβve refined the WhatsApp menu to make actions more accessible and intuitive. The new layout focuses solely on what matters: creating and viewing. We've removed subtitles and replaced them with direct, clearly labeled buttons. All the familiar functions are still there β now just easier to reach.
π€ Exports for Time Trackingβ
Generate detailed reports in just a few clicks! You can now export your time tracking data in CSV, Excel, or PDF format directly from the time tracking table. Fine-tune your exports using the built-in filters to select the exact data you need.
Sidenote: PDF exports can also be customized by us on request.
Just like with ticket exports, youβll find the export option conveniently placed in the table controls.

π Default Report Templates in Company Viewβ
To help you get started faster, weβve added default report templates directly to the company view. These Valoon-provided templates are now easier to access and can be downloaded, modified, and re-uploaded to match your specific needs.
A great starting point for teams looking to standardize reporting across projects.

β‘ Shortcuts for Frequent Actionsβ
Speed up your workflow with new shortcuts for commonly used actions! You can now:
- Create a new time entry type
- Add a contact card
- Invite new WhatsApp users to your company
These shortcuts are designed to reduce friction and save timeβlook for them in the usual menus across your workspace.

β²οΈ New Time Pickerβ
We have listened to your feedback and have changed the Time Picker. The new version allows for faster time picking and will replace the old component for ticket due dates and time entries!

π Improved PDF Viewer on Mobileβ
Our PDF viewer had several issues affecting mobile usersβfrom sluggish performance to rendering glitches. With this update, weβve rolled out a set of improvements. Whether youβre opening a quick one-pager or a heavy report, the viewer should now feel more responsive, stable, and reliable on mobile devices.
Internalβ
π§ͺ Project Chat Prototype (WhatsApp Web)β
A new prototype is live for internal testing: Project Chat via WhatsApp Web.
By scanning a QR code, team members can connect their WhatsApp account, link group chats directly to projects in Valoon, and start receiving messages β images, voice notes, PDFs, and more β right in the context of the project.
This alpha version is our first step toward full integration.
π Analytics Scaffoldingβ
Weβve laid the foundation for robust event tracking across all backend services. Ticket creation events for example are now stored in InfluxDB and can be visualized via the AdminUI using graphs and queries.
This is the groundwork for future analytics capabilities that will enable smarter reporting and feature usage insights.

π© Feature Flagsβ
Feature management got a big upgrade. With our in-house built feature flag system, we can now finely control access to new features β like rolling out the project chat only to Valoon team members.
Feature visibility can be adjusted in the AdminUI, allowing for gradual or role-based deployment of experimental and production-ready tools.

π New API Gatewayβ
Our new API Gateway is live and fully rewritten in Go.
It now also fully handles WebSocket connections, replacing our previous dependency on Azure PubSub, which was causing performance bottlenecks.
